Abstract

This article presents some actions of the “Paulo Freire Memory and Presence: preservation and democratizing access to Brazilian cultural heritage”, funded by Petrobras and the Ministry of Culture, through the Lei Rouanet. Initially, contex-tualizes the reader about who was the educator Paulo Freire, social relevance and, as a result, are presented the Paulo Freire Institute and the Paulo Freire Reference Center as well as the objectives of the project and its main achieve-ments. Continuing, are detailed three actions that make explicit the provision of direct initiatives in the educator work the internet: implementation of a digital repository that provides your physical file, a database for access to the catalog of books in your library and availability of his books for the visually impaired. The digital repository was the free software tool (DSpace) chosen for providing the educator file, offering unrestricted access to the amount by 2013 texts - 97,082 treated pages and 57,860 available, photo - 3000, videos - 1429 videos, between versions of DVD, in low and medium resolutions in mobile phone version and subtitled, and 537 available and audios - 839 audio generated and made available. The library catalog is also available using a free software (Abcd), making public the list of all the books in the pre-coup and post-coup library educator. The latest lawsuit filed is the phrase of 11 books of the educator, and 3 books discussing their ideas in order to meet the visually impaired. Phrases can be accessed in its entirety via digital repository. Finally, it presents three challenges left by design: sustainability, deepening the quality of available information and documentary survey of people and institutions.
